Social InnovateHER: The Influential Young Woman is a leadership education program for young women and girls. Our goal is to build life and leadership skills, while also providing tools that will set them to not only succeed and thrive but create an impact in the world. We focus on the power of showing up for yourself, first. Then we learn about transformational leadership and social entrepreneurship skills to build our capacity to lead. We also focus on the power of representation and finally learn about the Social InnovateHER framework before applying it to a project. We like to do this in a fun and interactive way by taking aJourney to Sasstopia to get to know how the Sassnistas like to get the conversation poppin’ in these #SassyStreets!

The program is broken into the following topics:

  1. Orientation: During this session, you’ll receive an overview of the Social InnovateHER program while also engaging in ice-breakers and team-building activities.

  2. Your Voice: The Motley Crew are a group of twenty-something women who dare to live their best lives. They are passionate about helping women and girls show up for themselves, first, before showing up for others. They believe that you have to take care of yourself before being able to effectively advocate for others. During this session, participants will engage in activities to learn how the power of raising our voices and self-expression impact our ability to show up for others.

  3. Your Power: The Motley Crew are a group of twenty-something women who dare to live their best lives. They are passionate about helping women and girls show up for themselves, first, before showing up for others. They believe that your knowledge is your power. During this session, participants will engage in activities to learn how their interests, skills and talents impact the way that they show up for others.

  4. Lead for Impact: BOSS Moves, Inc. is a consulting firm that helps small businesses achieve their goals. They are passionate about helping young women become transformational leaders that not only thrive, but make meaningful change. During this session, participants will engage in activities that are focused on the core leadership skills that are needed to be a Social InnovateHER.

  5. Social Entrepreneurship: BOSS Moves, Inc. is a consulting firm that helps small businesses achieve their goals. They are passionate about helping young women become transformational leaders by applying their leadersip skills to become social entrepreneurs that explore doing business while doing good. During this session, participants will learn about social entrepreneurship and develop business ideas that are focused on doing business while doing good.

  6. The Power of Representing Many Voices: The Moxie Bops, Esq. are a group of lawyers that fight for diversity, equity and inclusion. They know, first-hand, how it feels to be marginalized and want to help young people learn that diversity, equity and inclusion are not just a trending topic, but an approach to making decisions that impact the lives of the many, and not the few. During this session, participants will learn practical ways to make fair and equitable decisions; celebrate diversity and foster inclusivity on their journey to creating real change.

  7. Social InnovateHER Framework: Women Igniting Leadership & Diversity (aka WILD) Council are a group of social entrepreneurs that are passionate about social change. They believe that creating change happens in a variety of ways and we should understand how our interests and skills can be used to foster new ideas - social innovation - to make long-lasting change. During this session, participants will learn about the Social InnovateHER framework for creating change through social innovation. They will engage in activities that identify the characterstics of creating meaningful and sustainable change.

  8. Social InnovateHER Project: Women Igniting Leadership & Diversity (aka WILD) Council are a group of social entrepreneurs that are passionate about social change. They believe that creating change happens in a variety of ways and we should understand how our interests and skills can be used to foster new ideas - social innovation - to make long-lasting change. During this session, participants will work in groups to use the Social InnovateHER framework to solve a social challenge to show how social innovation can be used to create meaningful and sustainable change in our society.

Additional Details:

  • Registration deadline: Friday, February 14th, 2025

  • Eligibility: high school girls

  • Welcome packet mailed prior to program start includes the Social InnovateHER: Lead for Impact workbook.

  • Participants receive Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of program.

  • Virtual sessions held via Zoom.
